Seeing the world through my son’s eyes has entirely shifted the way I now experience it.

That’s what children are here to teach us as parents. Most parents think they’re the teacher, but that’s inaccurate. My son has taught me things about myself I didn’t even know existed until he came into this world.

He has taught me how to love and accept. Children don’t judge, see color or flaws. They see an opportunity to love someone new and make them a friend.

He’s taught me to live life in the moment. Children don’t understand time. He can play with his toy cars for hours because he’s loving what he’s doing in that moment. This is something I need to constantly remind myself.

He’s taught me to be fearless. Take a leap in life and not be scared of what may happen along the way.

One of the most important lessons he’s taught me is to not limit myself. Although he hasn’t quite told me himself yet, I know it’s coming in the near future. Children are constantly changing their minds on what they want to be when they grow up, and whatever he says in the moment I will support and encourage. Fire fighters, police officers, doctors, veterinarians. We get into this mindset as adults that we want to have it all figured out by a certain age. I talked about this in a previous post about recently making a transition in my career. There is no age. There is no limit.

What are some things your children have taught you?
