The reality about life is that almost nothing goes “as planned”. It’s challenging to accept that what we think need is often different from what we actually need, in order to be happy. When we’re met with resistance, we are being taught a lesson in surrender.

Surrender is often associated with defeat or failure, but that couldn’t be further from the truth in this instance. The resistance is put in our path to indicate that we get to try something different. The way we have been approaching things has expired, and it’s time to explore something new, or to simply rest, altogether. You will notice that the more you resist something, the more drained you will feel. That is because you are fueling your energy into something that is no longer serving you. Surrender can be a hard practice to implement because we’re taught to fight for what we want, but that’s actually the most exhausting way to achieve it.

In general, we’re taught that life is hard and that everything is a struggle, but it’s a choice to view the world that way. Once you decide to work with the laws of universe, life can and will be easier to navigate. It’s the moments where we consciously decide to shift our mindsets that allow us to feel better and more at ease. When we surrender the illusion of control, we can experience the profundity and aliveness of the present moment.

Ask yourself:
What would it feel like if I decided to leave everything as it is and live in the moment?
